Assistant Camp Director - Youth Facility Supervisor 2

Florence, Oregon - CAMP FLORENCE YOUTH TRANSITION PROGRAM

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a collaborative and motivated Youth Facility Supervisor 2 – Assistant Camp Director for the Camp Florence Youth Transitional Facility. This position assists the Camp Director in overseeing daily operations of a 24/7 residential transition program focused on accountability, rehabilitation, and positive youth development. Responsibilities include supervising and developing staff, participating in recruitment and hiring processes, conducting performance evaluations, training and coaching employees, developing work schedules, assigning duties, and addressing performance concerns through progressive discipline and developmental work plans.

This position also supports youth programming by supervising youth participating in college and work-study programs, assisting with treatment planning, overseeing facility operations and maintenance, inspecting facilities and equipment, coordinating needed repairs, and serving as a member of the facility management team and Officer of the Day as needed.

We are seeking candidates with experience working within youth-serving systems and knowledge of 24/7 operations. Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • The Camp Counselor, Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director work as a team in parole recommendations, and in the absence of the Camp Director may make parole decisions regarding youth.

  • Participate in monthly case reviews regarding current treatment programs and individual youth progress.

  • Supervise the Group Life Coordinator staff, food services staff and part-time staff in the daily operations of the camp, ensuring all agency department and camp policies are followed.

  • Works on the unit with the youth and staff on a daily basis providing direction in daily activities and treatment programs.

  • Maintains the safety, security and well-being of youth, co-workers and the facility, controls behavior of youth assigned to the work area or in close proximity facility wide.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four Years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR one year of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Special Qualifications:

  • Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
