What You'll Do in This Role:
Join our Huron Valley PACE team as a Medical Assistant and make a meaningful impact every day! This role blends hands-on clinical care with administrative support to keep our clinic running smoothly. You’ll assist with exams, procedures, documentation, and participant coordination — all while supporting a mission that helps older adults age with independence.
Because this is a community-based PACE program, you’ll also play an essential role in supporting care both onsite and out in the community. Candidates with home care or community-based field experience are strongly encouraged to apply, as these skills help ensure we deliver seamless, person-centered care across settings.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support & Patient Care- Partner with nurses, physicians, and other team members to ensure smooth clinic flow and participant care.
- Welcome participants, escort them to exam rooms, and assist with comfort and positioning during visits.
- Take and accurately record vital signs, including height, weight, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure.
- Assist with lab work, specimen collection, and routine ADL (Activities of Daily Living) care.
- Document care, observations, and procedures in participant records.
- Communicate changes in participant condition promptly to nursing and interdisciplinary team members.
- Keep the clinic organized and running efficiently by managing the daily schedule and coordinating appointments.
- Communicate with participants, families, and providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Confirm and reschedule appointments as needed while maintaining a friendly, professional approach.
- Prepare exam rooms, manage clinic supplies, and ensure equipment is clean and ready for use.
- Support administrative tasks such as answering phones, faxing, scanning, and maintaining documentation.
- Collect and maintain accurate participant data and assist with quality improvement (QI) initiatives.
- Support ongoing documentation needs and help track key clinical and operational metrics.
- Participate in daily huddles and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute ideas, share insights, and help create a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Support learning opportunities for staff and teammates.
- Occasionally assist in the Day Center or during participant home visits.
- Adhere to all Huron Valley PACE policies and uphold our mission to provide exceptional, person-centered care.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education & Experience- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in a medical office, clinic, homecare, or community-based field setting strongly preferred.
- We’re happy to train the right candidate — especially someone with community/homecare experience!
- Active Medical Assistant certification or license in the State of Michigan.
- Current CPR certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) required.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology, office procedures, and basic clinical tasks.
- Comfortable using computers, phones, fax machines, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent organization and multitasking skills — able to balance patient care with administrative tasks.
- A reliable team player who communicates clearly and builds positive relationships with participants, families, and coworkers.
- Must have reliable transportation to commute
