ITP Test Garage Engineer

Stellantis is currently seeking a Test Garage Technician to join the Quality team in Kokomo, Indiana at the Indiana Transmission Plant. The Test Garage Technician must have the ability to understand part functionality with proven experience to be able to identify the root cause of failures. The candidate must be high-energy, hands-on individual with experience in working cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality landscape. They will work with the Project Technician and Resident Engineers to develop and execute test plans and communicate their findings.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assemble and install, remove, disassemble and repair components and related parts.
- Root cause analysis of car plant and warranty returns
- Vehicle maintenance, modification, and repair
- Support engineering and durability testing
- Confirm and investigate Functional Audit findings
- Maintain area and equipment cleanliness.
- Provide training on transmission function to new engineering, management, or test garage personnel
- May assist with special assignments as appropriate.
- Maintain database of root cause analysis for warranty and car plant returns
- Develop and maintain road test and functional audit work instructions
- Assign risk levels to road test and functional audit findings
- Program and maintain DataMyte torque inspection controllers
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in automotive technologies and 5 years automotive technician / mechanic experience OR a high school diploma / GED AND ASE certification in engine and transmission
- Must have powertrain / drivetrain experience with disassembly and analyzing failed transmissions, electric motors, and related components
- Good verbal, written, and record keeping skills required
- Must have computer experience (Windows applications – Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Positive attitude, good teamwork and customer service skills
- Experience using hand, bench, machine tools
- Experience systematically tearing down assemblies looking for root cause
- Ability to test electrical components such as relays, solenoids, switches, etc.
- Must be able to work with other staff members in multiple groups within the organization to address component issues as required
- Must be a team player and help in other components areas at a moment's notice
- Ability to drive a walk-behind Hilo/stacker
- Willing to work off-shift hours, holidays, and weekends if required
- Candidates will be required to produce certification documents at the time of interview
