Pay Range
$93,090 - $113,988 Annually for the J01.2 Level

Job Description
We have an opening for a Security Specialist to support the LLNL Use Control Site Coordinator Office. You will perform a full range of advanced, diverse, and sensitive classified administrative duties. This will include providing day-to-day business and security operations for the Office, serving as a point of contact for access to Vault Type Rooms and assisting in supporting a variety of classified activities. Under minimal supervision, you will perform classified duties, typically with multiple components and processes that must be adhered to strictly as outlined by specific policies and procedures. You will have extensive interactions with peers and various levels of management internal and external to LLNL. This position supports the LLNL Use Control Site Coordinator Office in Strategic Deterrence.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options, may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
In this role, you will
- Serve as the LLNL’s Sigma 14/15 Verifier and primary verification point-of-contact on behalf of the LLNL Use Control Site Coordinator; participate in the review and administration of Sigma 14/15 Weapons Data; ensure Sigma 14/15 access holders have sufficient training; validate training records and train individuals as necessary; maintain training and access databases and ensure accurate data entry.
- Serve as the Document and Material Custodian for the LLNL Use Control Program, responsible for classified document control and accountability, including annual inventory of accountable documents (to include appropriate creation, scanning, destruction, reproduction, distribution, and marking), and work closely with cognizant Classified Matter Protection and Control offices to assist in the development, implementation and adherence to relevant CMPC procedures.
- Ensure proper maintenance of records and administrative controls for classified matter receipt/transfer.
- Prepare and participate in self-assessments and audits from the Office of Enterprise Assessment and other organizations.
- Review work conducted in limited areas and apply appropriate controls, including physical, personnel, and information security, in compliance with LLNL and DOE directives, orders, and requirements.
- Support LLNL and HQ security organizations in administering a variety of programmatic security requirements.
- Serve as a resource to program personnel for classified policies and procedures, validations, security measures, and all matters concerning classified documents.
- Oversee Derivative Classifier (DC) and hand-carry authority requests, renewals, and re-certifications.
- Oversee classified media transfers, transferring data between classified information systems. Screen material for destruction to ensure the retention of critical data as outlined by LLNL Records Management.
- Assist in the occasional security and logistical support for multi-agency meetings as required.
- Occasional travel is required, typically 1-2 times per year, to support business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
