We value people with a curious mindset, who are looking for the next challenge, and more importantly who want to join our incredible growth company. </p><p> </p><p><strong>The Role</strong><br/>The mission of the Senior Backend PHP Engineer is to provide technical leadership and expertise in the development and improvement of ExpandNow's fintech platform . We run a joint development team with Kooomo commerce, therefore levereging our best people across both companies.</p><p><br/>The role requires a proactive approach in optimising the Continuous Integration and Delivery Processes, enhancing the non-functional aspects of the platform, and designing integrations with third-party systems.  <br/> <br/>This senior role also entails driving tool and process improvements, contributing to Research &amp; Development initiatives, and mentoring junior developers.  <br/> <br/>The Senior Backend PHP Engineer will not only ensure the timely delivery of high-quality code but may also play a pivotal role in transitioning the platform's codebase from current PHP approach to more modern structures, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our solutions. </p><p></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul> <li>Software Development: Design and implement web-based applications for the platform. This includes both new features and improvements to existing features. </li> <li>Code Optimization and Modernisation: Work with the existing monolithic PHP codebase, optimising and refactoring it where necessary. Lead the transition to more modern structures such as Laravel for new functionality. </li> <li>CI/CD Optimisation: Enhance and streamline the Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Processes. </li> <li>Platform Improvement: Work on optimising non-functional requirements of the Platform, such as security and speed. </li> <li>Integration Development: Develop and maintain integrations with third-party systems including suppliers, logistics providers, couriers, payment gateways, and business intelligence tools. </li> <li>Process Improvement: Drive improvements for tools and processes within the development team. </li> <li>Reporting &amp; KPIs: Work on reporting and KPI systems, and suggest improvements where necessary. </li> <li>Research &amp; Development: Participate in R&amp;D initiatives to explore new technologies and methodologies that could enhance the platform's capabilities. </li> <li>Technical Documentation: Interpret written business requirements and convert them into technical specification documents. </li> <li>DevOps Assistance: Depending on the candidate's interest and previous experience, there may be an opportunity to assist with DevOps tasks. </li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>6 years PHP experience  </li> <li>Technical Proficiency: Deep and profound understanding of PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS, JSON/XML, and REST/SOAP protocols. Familiarity with the main PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, and Zend is essential. You should be comfortable working with legacy codebases as well as implementing new technologies with at least 6 years of exp  </li> <li>Software Design and Architecture: Strong ability to design, develop, and implement complex software systems. You should understand best practices around software design patterns and principles. </li> <li>Problem-Solving: Proficiency in identifying, analysing, and resolving complex technical issues, improving system performance, and optimising existing code. </li> <li>Team Leadership and Mentoring: The ability to guide and mentor junior developers, lead code reviews, and promote best practices within the team. They should be able to inspire and motivate team members towards achieving their goals. </li> <li>Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members and stakeholders, as well as to work effectively with clients and third-party providers.
