Expandnow Engineering Manager

Expandnow is an exciting startup operating in the Merchant of Record space. With locations in Dublin, Barcelona, and Minnesota we are rapidly expanding. We offer a flexible work environment where you can make a difference from day 1.

We are looking for a talented individual to head up our engineering function

Working in an Agile environment, you will manage teams of engineers working on greenfield products within e-commerce and fulfilment. The working model will be hybrid with a base in Dublin with teams located in Ireland, Spain and Eastern Europe. This is an opportunity to contribute to the design and build of our platform using the latest technology advancements and methodologies. As well as managing the teams, you will also collaborate with Solution Architects and Product Managers to deliver enterprise solutions to our clients.

You will care about KPIs and monitor individual team performance. You will be experienced with the Software development Lifecycle and how it applies to CI/using Domain Driven Design and Test Driven Development techniques. You will have a keen interest in doing things the right way and for taking on new challenges.

Requirements

Manage 2 Software Engineering Teams, each consisting of 5-6 developers (Mix of

Backend and Frontend development)

 Work with Product and Architecture to define the Product Roadmap and Technical

Designs to enable implementation of reliable, performant & scalable solutions.

 Ensure good quality code, with high levels of code coverage, that follows best DDD

principles.

 Provide Technical learning paths for your reports and ensure they adopt best practices

when working with underlying technologies.

 Ensure good collaboration amongst teams and know when to mentor/provide guidance

without reverting to micro management.

 Actively contribute to development and the code review process.

 Monitor Production systems and promote a sense of ownership within your teams

You will bring a minimum of 3 years of experience managing software engineering teams and fostering a

culture of high performance and collaborative enjoyment within an Agile environment.

 Experience of dealing with customer facing teams and/or directly with customers.

 Exposure to design/build of reliable distributed enterprise systems capable of scaling to

serve high volumes of traffic.

 High attention to detail and willingness to take on complex technical challenges.

 Proficiency in the Microsoft stack - .Net Core, Web Api, Azure Services (inclu. Cosmos,

Sql Azure, App Insights, etc.), Azure Devops.

 Experience in Event Driven Architecture, Microservices, Kafka.

 Exposure to Container Technology (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)

 Experience/Knowledge of Javascript Frameworks such as Angular and React.

 Full understanding of the SDLC, with experience working with DDD, TDD, CI/CD.

 Exposure to Co-Pilot for AI coding efficiency gains.

 Microsoft Azure / .Net certification an advantage.
