Reporting into the Workforce Wellness Facilitator, this position supports the work to create strategies and programs for team members to promote self-sufficiency and job satisfaction. In addition, this position will partner with Mower County United Way to support food security and Food City programming.
Plant Support Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting individual and group interviews and observations with team members using motivational interviewing to gather information about their physical, psychosocial (mental, social, spiritual, and emotional functioning), and educational needs, as well as overall job satisfaction.
- Support individual and group interviews and observations with managers using motivational interviewing and a strengths-based perspective to gain insights into the work environment, critical skills, and behaviors that support team member success.
- Help identify areas where Hormel Foods can support team member needs by collaborating with plant, corporate, and community partners. Enhance job satisfaction by providing resources, benefits, mentors, and direct services, such as access to food banks, childcare services, financial literacy programs, mental health and healthcare providers, housing assistance programs, and culturally appropriate resources.
- Assist in creating a template or guide outlining how team members at all locations can access these resources, including eligibility requirements and application processes.
- Support strategies and initiatives to promote inclusion, belonging, and cultural competence in the workplace.
- Provide and support opportunities for continuous learning and professional development through workshops, courses, and certifications that foster employee growth and advancement.
- Respond to service requests by linking employees to internal and external community resources based on their individual needs.
- Establish a close partnership with HR to understand employee needs and identify priority areas, ensuring that continuous learning, professional development, and career advancement opportunities are effectively aligned with those needs.
Food Security Responsibilities:
- Assist in establishing and maintaining partnerships with food assistance agencies, facilitating collaboration between the company and community partners to enhance food security efforts.
- Collaborate with various food assistance agencies, including food banks, pantries, community kitchens, meal programs, food rescue organizations, SNAP, and WIC, to stay informed about current data and insights, including food security needs and gaps.
- Support the coordination of internal departments to align company resources—such as funding, product donations, and volunteers—with community needs, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources to maximize impact.
- Help track and report on the impact of food security programs and initiatives to plant leadership and corporate communications.
- Assist in advocating for and raising awareness about local food security challenges and the company's efforts to address them.
- Stay informed about relevant local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
