SUMMARY
Focuses on maintaining and enhancing overall vehicle quality across multiple critical operational areas, including vehicle build quality, Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) processes, and accessory installations. Ensures compliance with Subaru of America (SOA) standards at the Subaru Yard Operations (SYO) vehicle processing center. Serves as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting complex mechanical-, electrical-, and installation-related issues. Must be capable of completing multiple priorities simultaneously while delivering timely technical guidance and operational support.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of vehicle specifications, features, functions, and model change history to accurately assess vehicle characteristics and quality concerns.
- Independently perform complex vehicle diagnostics and repairs using the Subaru Technical Information System (STIS) and diagnostic tools, including analysis and interpretation of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Conduct pre- and post-repair test drives to ensure vehicle quality and safety.
- Facilitate correction of minor appearance-related issues to ensure vehicles meet Subaru of America (SOA) Shipping Quality Standards.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting leadership with quality reporting, performance analysis, technical recommendations, and timely repair completion.
- Accurately document repairs, parts replacements, labor performed, warranty claims, and Advanced Quality Assurance (AQA) records.
- Review, validate, and categorize quality exceptions, assigning responsibility and disposition decisions in accordance with SOA Shipping Quality Standards.
- Support the Vehicle Quality Manager in processing and resolving quality review exceptions, including confirmation and release of vehicles repaired by Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA).
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation in accordance with reporting standards, ensuring completeness and pursuing resolution support when necessary.
- Communicate inspection findings and repair recommendations through the Subarunet system (W-Vehicles).
- Follow manufacturer specifications and shop safety procedures while maintaining tools, equipment, and an organized work area.
- Administer and track battery charging and replacement programs through accurate documentation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Train SOA Quality Assurance Auditors on Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), audit procedures, and accessory installation processes.
- Conduct detailed vehicle inspections and generate deficiency reports.
- Evaluate on-site processor PDI and accessory installation activities for compliance with SOA and Subaru Corporation (SBR) standards, documenting and reporting findings.
- Perform teardown audits to validate hidden aspects of complex installations, including wire harness routing and tie-off points.
- Collaborate with processor personnel, SIA, Field Quality Assurance (FQA), and AQA management to improve processes, reduce quality exceptions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
- Assist with the accessory discrepant parts program.
- Participate in new accessory installation trials.
- Support new model launch activities, including vehicle build audits, work instruction development, training video creation, and processor training.
- Coordinate projects with Sales Operations and processor personnel.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to complete tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to proactively investigate vehicle quality issues at the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) and in the field.
- Advanced technical expertise in vehicle disassembly, reassembly, part replacement, and repair procedures.
- Knowledge of Subaru vehicles, systems, and processes preferred.
- Ability to assess and evaluate quality exceptions objectively, consistently, and accurately.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals across multiple organizations, departments, and levels.
- Ability to attend and complete off-site technical training programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook).
- Experience with digital photography, video capture, and photo/video editing.
- Knowledge of Subaru of America (SOA) systems and specialty programs, including Subarunet, Oracle, SMART, Subaru Technical Information System (STIS), Web Technical Report (TR), and data collection software.
