The Human Resources Generalist provides support to the Human Resources team as needed, including but not limited to all areas of employee relations, benefits administration, workers compensation administration, EEOC guidelines, payroll, and maintenance of employee files and HR files.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
- Assist with development and implementation of employee relations programs, events, community service and training
- Coordinate activities and promote and develop advertising for employee relations events such as upcoming events, health tips, community service activities and employee recognition program
- Maintain employee files and computer files.
- Responsible for rate and status changes and updates on ADP along with accompanying PAFs
- Maintenance of INS I-9 documentation
- Create and maintain benefit plan setup on ADP and carrier connections
- Benefits administration including holding information sessions, enrollments, billing and payroll entry for changes
- Process supplemental life and voluntary AD&D paperwork and deductions, and assist in application of all other company benefits
- Process leave requests and workers compensation
- Commuter benefits administration
- Administer the colleague accommodation request program
- Assist in handling employee requests and issues such as policy and procedure questions, benefits inquiries etc.
- Assists in processing of termed employees from exit interview to COBRA transmission
- Maintains disciplinary action log
- Develop materials for and maintain employee communication and recognition boards
- Ensure posting compliance per NY State, New York City and Federal regulations
- Administrator for Hot News on the company intranet
- Purchasing and managing of all HR operating supplies, employee relations items, and as needed
- Process employment verifications for active, termed, and employees filing for unemployment
- Pull ADP reports for the Director of Human Resources as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Human Resources
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Activities include talking, seeing, hearing, reaching and feeling. Walking and standing are required. Lifting and or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds is required. May require periods of considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as pertains to the operation of computer keyboards.
- Requires using body members, hand tools and or other devices to work, move or carry objects or materials.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, in the English language
- Ability to effectively deal with employees and applicants, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger
- Thorough knowledge of EEOC and employment laws preferred
- Computer skills required and good applicable knowledge of ADP preferred
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledg
