Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections Industries division is seeking a Corrections Vocational Instructor at the Menard Correctional Center Broom Shop to oversee custodial supply production and provide instruction toward Department of Labor certifications.  This position is responsible for coordinating and providing vocational instruction to students, developing programs and student evaluative measures and providing professional guidance.  We encourage all qualified applicants to apply!

Essential Functions

• Coordinates and provides vocational instruction to students on Department of Labor curriculum for apprenticeships such as industrial production, woodworking, product packaging, mixing of cleaning supplies, and distribution functions of various types of service industries in the daily operation of the Broom Shop at Menard Correctional Industries.
• Develops program and student evaluative measures and reports.
• Maintains operating records of production and inspects finished products for quality control prior to packaging and shipping of finished goods.
• Maintains proper preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Maintains all Department and institutional safety, security, and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Provides professional guidance and counseling to assist students in making personal adjustments.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
