Bottomline Technologies is seeking a talented Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our dynamic Accounting and Compliance teams in our Portsmouth, NH Office.

This person will be able to work remotely with some visits to our Portsmouth,NH office.  Person should be within driving distance of Portsmouth, NH 

Position Summary:  The Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is a key position within the accounting department, tasked with managing the financial reporting process for quarterly GAAP financial statements and compliance with debt covenant reporting requirements.  This role will also be responsible for leading the research, policies and application or implementation of all technical accounting areas.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Manage the preparation of GAAP financial statements and covenant calculations for quarterly lender compliance and annual audited financial statements, as well as key financial statements with EBITDA reconciliations for monthly internal reporting.
  • Subject matter expert in researching and applying US GAAP principles.
  • Ability to research and draft white papers on complex technical accounting matters for both (a) complex transactions and (b) new accounting pronouncements.
  • Assist in application of technical accounting policies, such as lease accounting, purchase accounting, goodwill impairment analysis, 409a valuations, stock-based compensation expense, etc.
  • Participation in monthly closes process for certain technical accounting areas, including ownership of journal entries, account reconciliations, and audit schedules.
  • Assist with audit preparation and questions from the auditors.
  • Support projects related to process improvement initiatives.

What will make you successful:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Accounting
  • 5-8 years’ experience working within a large public company.
  • CPA Strongly Preferred
  • Experience working with Workiva and Microsoft Dynamics / D365 ERP system preferred.
  • Strong analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to consistently and timely produce quality, accurate work
  • Experience with SOX internal controls
