Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Senior ABAP Developer at our corporate office in Richmond, Virginia. This position is onsite and is responsible for using SAP ABAP programming language and tools to enhance and customize existing SAP application programs, and to write new programs.

As the successful candidate, you will be expected to develop and maintain programs to enhance the assigned application modules using SAP development tools (ABAP, SAPScript, SmartFroms, IDocs, BAPI, RFC).
Your additional responsibilities as the Senior ABAP Developer:
- Collaborate with SAP project team members, users, and management to develop specifications for application enhancements that support continuous functional improvement
- Develop test plans to assure expected performance quality levels
- Troubleshoot and debug production programs
Skills/ Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Information Technology
- 8+ years developing SAP ABAP programs using SAP development tools including ABAP, SAPScript, SmartForms, iDocs, BAPIs, and RFC communication)
- 8+ years working within some or all of these modules: SAP FI, SD, MM, PP, PI and/or QM
- Extensive knowledge and skill in ABAP programming, SAP data dictionary and file structures, ALE and customizing iDocs, BAPI’s and interfaces using RFC calls
- Experience with and understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, vendor and customer maintenance, order entry, shipping, billing, etc.
- Experienced using Microsoft Word to write documentation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic understanding of computer communications including FTP, AS1, AS2 and network file sharing
