If you thrive on solving complex problems, love working with the latest AI tools, and want to be part of a collaborative team that’s redefining what’s possible, we want to hear from you!</p> <h4><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Design, build, and maintain robust backend systems with a focus on AI and agent/chatbot technologies.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and drive innovation in digital operations.</li> <li>Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to deployment and support.</li> <li>Take part in on-call rotations to ensure high availability and reliability of our services.</li> <li>Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and mentor other engineers.</li> <li>Work with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong></h4> <ul> <li>5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend development.</li> <li>Recent (last 6-12 months) hands-on experience in AI or chatbot development.</li> <li>Experience shipping code as part of a team in a production environment.</li> <li>Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and scalable backend architectures.</li> <li>Willingness to participate in on-call rotations.</li> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration skills.</li> <li>Based in Lisbon, with the ability to work remotely in Portugal after 20 days.</li> </ul> <h4><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Experience with LangGraph (strong plus, as it’s foundational to our AI/agent work).</li> <li>Experience with Elixir for backend development.</li> <li>Background as a Backend Engineer with AI experience, or as a Machine Learning Engineer with product development experience.</li> <li>Experience working in SaaS or cloud-based environments.</li> <li>Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.</li> <li>Experience mentoring or leading other engineers.</li> </ul> <p>PagerDuty is a flexible, hybrid workplace.
