About The Role

Crunchyroll is looking for a highly motivated attorney to join our Legal team! Our Product Counsel is a high-impact role that will partner closely with our business teams to help shape our approach to product compliance, advising the business as we launch new features and expand anime across the globe. This position reports to our Head of Product Counsel.

About You:

Are you a brilliant attorney with a flexible work style and experience in global revenue and billing platforms? If you answered yes, we want to meet you! Our ideal Product Counsel Candidate has:

• Juris Doctor and membership in good standing (CA/NY bar preferred)
• 4+ years of relevant experience in monetization and payments with a credible law firm or serving as in-house legal. Experience in the entertainment, tech or streaming industry highly preferred
• Familiarity with global payments and e-commerce regulations
• Experience advising on global issues that impact technology companies, such as payments, platform liability, privacy, accessibility, telecommunications laws, and content moderation laws, within Asia and Latin America
• You thrive working in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to coordinate, organize, and lead projects effectively
• Ability to internalize the business’s priorities, think creatively, exercise judgment, and translate legal requirements into practical (and flexible) advice

A day in the life of our Product Counsel:

This role will support our Product monetization teams in innovating new features and forging partnerships in the app ecosystem to grow Crunchyroll domestically and internationally.

You will advise team members on strategic product initiatives including, mobile app promotion and global app distribution platform requirements.

Research and evaluate Crunchyroll’s strategy to enter new territories, and act as one of the company’s authorities on global payments and e-commerce laws and regulations.

Support finance, engineering and product on commercial agreements impacting our global payments and expansion strategy.

As Product Counsel you will partner with engineering and product teams to identify issues related to global payment laws and regulations.

Provide clear and practical advice to minimize legal risks while advancing Crunchyroll’s goals and objectives on various multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues, as well as working with outside counsel to help advise when necessary.

Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to lead cross-functional projects.

Help drive resolution of large projects that involve payments and e-commerce issues.
