The role of the Director of Product Line Quality is pivotal in setting and sustaining overall vehicle quality and dependability standards through the end-to-end- life cycle of a dedicated product line. This role demands strong leadership, the ability to collaborate cross functionally, strategic thinking, and a relentless commitment to ensuring the highest standards of quality across our product line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Launching new products cross-functionally on time with quality.
- Establishing and maintaining exceptional quality standards for the product line, aligned with internal targets, industry benchmarks and customer expectations.
- Overseeing quality assurance throughout the entire product development lifecycle from vehicle engineering and supplier integration, through manufacturing launch and the in-service customer experience.
- Development, refinement, and implementation of functional quality objectives and cross-functional critical-to-quality deliverables.
- Collaborating across departments to ensure adherence to quality standards and controls from design through to production.
- Acting as a key resource on quality assurance best practices and standards, providing expertise and guidance as needed.
- Defining and communicating quality objectives, initiatives, and performance metrics to stakeholders and senior management.
- Establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge and enhance quality performance.
- Proactively identifying, mitigating, and resolving risks to quality to maintain product integrity.
- Monitoring and managing supplier quality performance to address any concerns or risks promptly.
- Driving effective problem-solving initiatives, including articulating robust problem statements, conducting thorough root cause analyses, and implementing corrective action plans.
- Advocating for a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, quality management, engineering, management & operations, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record of leadership in Automotive Quality roles, with at least 15 years of experience in quality management.
- Experience with new vehicle program launch activity.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions that deliver tangible value and ROI.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to drive change and lead cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of automotive programs & quality management principles, processes, and technologies, with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and operate as a player-coach both driving and leading strategy and implementation execution with a hands-on approach.
