Job Description

The Digital Media Designer creates or converts client supplied creative into effective designs and for digital media products according to Valassis (a Vericast company) specifications. They act as a consultant relating to creative design for digital media products to maximize impact and effectively convey client message.  They support Valassis competencies through daily performance and behaviors.

Role Responsibilities:

Production/Design: Utilizes technical knowledge and design skills to create conceptual artwork and coding, or convert client supplied creative into effective designs according to Valassis specifications for digital products.   Maintains thorough knowledge of Valassis digital product specifications and limitations and has ability to educate and onboard clients on graphic service requirements and specifications.  Produces maximum number of quality art files while optimizing efficiencies.  Maintains knowledge of internal Valassis processes for digital products through compliance of standard operating procedures. 40%

Communication: Communicates directly with internal/external clients as a consultant to resolve client-supplied code issues and design needs as well as providing recommendations and technical assistance to increase their knowledge of Valassis best practices and artwork specifications. Displays ability to articulate design concepts and solutions verbally and written.  Interacts with clients, and outside vendors in a professional manner. 20%

Research & Development: Researches emerging best practices and new technology updates relating to digital practices. Tests success/failure of design & development methods to provide optimal solutions for our clients. Implements new processes to increase team efficiency and remain current. Challenges existing standards, tools, and practices to determine relevancy against changing technology. 20%

Training: Create, communicate and train on standard operating procedures and emerging  best practices. 10%

Issue Resolution: Identifies and troubleshoots file/code issues to resolve problems and eliminate obstacles. Owns resolution beyond area of expertise. Effectively collaborates with Clients and internal partners to find a mutual solution, and communicates and positions information on challenging situations to the Client/and or Sales. 5%

Internal Reporting: Maintains daily updates on their personal productivity by utilizing necessary means of tracking. 5%

Qualifications

Education & Knowledge:

• Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

• Experience creating digital display and rich media graphic ads
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Creative Cloud
• Maintains current knowledge of graphic media, design trends, best practices, techniques, and technology
• Microsoft Excel capabilities for data driven digital content
• Video/Audio/Motion Graphics knowledge
• Effectively manages multiple projects and sets priorities
• Effectively schedules and coordinates activities of project resources

Additional Information

Base Salary: $50,000-$75,000

The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
