The Medical Critical Care (MCC) is a newly renovated 24-bed unit at Meijer Heart Center, that cares for a wide variety of critically ill patients. Accepting a position with the MCC offers a unique experience of working in a brand-new critical care unit.

Scope of Work

The Unit Secretary is the point person on each unit for clerical support.  Responsibilities include taking phone calls, helping with directions and wayfinding to the unit, paging/calling support when directed by clinical staff, assisting with discharge/admit/transfer paperwork, ordering supplies, ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked, and answering call lights for any non-direct patient care needs.  The Unit Secretary role is a very fast-paced role requiring strong communication skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask. You will often be tasked with multiple requests by various teammates and clear communication and prioritization of your responsibilities will be necessary.

Flexible availability is needed for this night shift role that will start out with daytime orientation.

  • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Thursday, Friday, Saturday
  • Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday

Then continues to repeat this core schedule pattern.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred 2 years of relevant/related experience.
