We are currently looking for a Senior Telecom System Engineer to join Thales GTS as a Project Design Authority.
The Project Design Authority is the technical leader of the bid or project team, acting as lead technical interface with the Customer and availability to go on international mobility assignment.
Project Design Authority main responsibilities include:
- Defines and proposes innovative solutions to meet customer requirements in compliance with product / system technical strategy;
- Assesses technique and technological choices to ensure the best trade-off between customer requirements, technical solutions and cost & risk control;
- Ensures standardisation and adequate re-use;
- Contributes to technical specification definition and to the subcontractor choice for needed subsystem acquisition, considering possible export control restrictions;
- Full commitment with the Contractual/Project Dates;
- Support to the Installation Supervision, Test & Commissioning and Maintenance activities;
- Give support in the preparation of project plans, by estimating the effort and time needed to accomplish the tasks, and identify risks;
- Approves the main bid/project engineering reviews and deliverables.;
- Organizes, when appropriate, technical meetings and peer reviews in order to perform the solution technical assessment and validation;
- Responsible to agree the compliance of project requirements with client.
Candidate Profile/Skills:
- IT/Telecom Engineer grade;
- Previous experience (minimum 5 years) in Telecom System Engineering Design;
- Good knowledge of the documentation and requirements derived from the customer requirements and constraints;
- Good knowledge of railway organisational structures and standards, workflows, operating procedures, and terminology;
- Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environmental issues;
- Relevant health and safety legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures;
- Ability to work independently with clear direction;
- IPMA level D or above (recommended);
- Team management skills and great team player;
- Strong organisational and management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities;
- Possess good communication skills;
- Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Fluent in Portuguese, English & French (preferential);
- Availability to go on international mobility assignment;
- Excellent judgment, planning and organizational skills;
- Positive attitude and willing to learn and develop.
The position reports to the Engineering Manager.
