This advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service)/SMS (Senior Management Service) position located at Central Office in the Adminssion & Release department

 

Salary rate: $59,263.62 annually

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Correctional Services Inmates Commitment Auditing Unit that is responsible for conducting highly detailed correctional services’ reviews and implementing corrections of inmate sentence data in the automated record to ensure correct release date calculation and ensure public safety.
  • Identify, research, investigate, analyze, and resolve any operational or technical problems which may affect the accuracy of sentence data collections, calculation programs, and system integrity; independently interprets, analyzes and audits complex sentence structure to assure compliance with statutory changes and case law decisions.
  • Reviews, audits and restructures complex cases ensuring adherence to sentencing provisions and instructions of the trial court; resolve inconsistencies in sentencing provisions and/or documents; resolves any technical or operational problems in order to ensure the integrity of the internal release date
  • Analyzes internal processes and implements procedural and policy changes to improve operations of the Correctional Services Inmates Commitment Auditing Unit and assesses how changes will impact other business areas
  • Independently reviews, researches and investigates inmate’s correctional admissions correspondence from state attorneys, private attorneys, public defenders, judge's offices and various other criminal justice agencies regarding inmate sentence structure and convoluted release date calculations; communicates verbally and/or in writing with various offices during the preparation, investigation, analysis, review and/or response, as it relates to inmate sentence structure issues effected by statutory changes, case law decisions, gain-time issues or release date calculation or request for technical assistance from institutional classification staff, while ensuring the accuracy of sentences as it pertains to applicable Florida Statutes, case law and rules of the Department of Corrections; provides direction in regards to inmate sentence structure issues.
  • Reviews and analyzes court decisions and proposed changes in laws and rules and regulations to determine what impact they may have on an inmate’s release date calculations and broader application to similarly situated inmates.
  • Develops and coordinates implementation strategies for changes to procedures relating to the automated information system based on statutory revision, or case law. Oversees the testing and analysis of computer program application with regard to inmates’ sentencing, statutes, department policy and case law decisions, to ensure compliance.
  • Develops and provides statewide training for field institutional staff regarding inmate sentencing issues, programming, case law, and statutes.
  • Prepares, reviews, and submits detailed reports
