Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

TransMedics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), a cutting-edge platform combining hardware, software, and clinical science. Our R&D Engineering team develops next-generation technologies that advance organ preservation and transplant care. 

 

The Electrical Engineering Intern will support hands-on R&D activities including schematic design, PCB layout, prototype development, testing, and electrical troubleshooting. This role offers direct exposure to product development in a regulated medical device environment. This internship is ideal for students who enjoy building, testing, debugging, and working closely with hardware systems. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Electrical Design & Development 

  • Assist with electrical schematic design 

  • Support PCB layout and board revisions 

  • Contribute to cable design and documentation 

  • Assist with prototype assembly and development 

Testing & Validation 

  • Develop and execute electrical test procedures 

  • Collect and document test data 

  • Use DMMs and oscilloscopes for debugging and validation 

  • Support electrical rework and troubleshooting activities 

Prototyping & Lab Support 

  • Perform soldering, including through-hole and surface mount components 

  • Assist with board bring-up and functional testing 

  • Support lab organization and equipment setup 

Cross-Functional & Clinical Exposure 

  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, and Systems Engineers 

  • Opportunity to observe or participate in hands-on clinical lab activities if interested

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

  • General office environment where there is a significant amount of time at a desk, working on computers and reviewing documents. This requires the ability to sit for extended periods. They also may need to stand for meetings or when moving around the office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                         

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering 

  • College Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior
