Regional Quality Manager, Milling - Decatur, IL
This is an exempt position.

Position Summary:
The leader in this role is responsible for a unified approach for quality, food safety and standard processes throughout the designated Milling network.  Some of the key components of this role are to identify and implement QFS best practices and validations to reduce quality disruptions to our operations and our customers; conduct thorough risk assessments and standardize the food safety plans where applicable; conduct and provide support for internal and external audits, including root cause corrective actions; coordinate action plans for continuous improvements; develop and provide QFS training and support to the locations; and communicate and collaborate across all levels and functions within the business.

The ideal candidate must be able to convey extensive experience in milling and/or food processing industries.  Additionally, the person filling this position should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of driving positive changes.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as this person must work effectively across multiple functions and levels of the organization.

This position reports to the Director of Quality and Food Safety – Milling & Ag Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides proactive leadership in the development, implementation, execution and performance of the Quality Systems to ensure product meets quality and food safety standards
  • Conduct routine QFS verification activities to ensure plant-level compliance in meeting customer expectations, third party audit standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Partners with operations to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards as needed
  • Collaborate with commercial and technical teams to provide guidance, recommendations, resources and customer support on quality and food safety issues
  • Develop and provide QFS training as needed
  • Assemble and distribute defined reports within the region that identifies performance against defined goals, improvement actions, and ensures management review intervals are followed for each mill location
  • Leads the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) initiative and drives improvement within the mills, reducing quality and food safety related costs
  • Conduct Integrated Risk Management assessments and ensure action plans are in place for improvement
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives as set within each mill location
  • Foster a strong QFS culture that supports teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Travel as needed to provide plant-level QFS needs
Required Skills:
  • Must be highly proficient using all Microsoft 365 platform applications such as Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Notes
  • Power BI experience as a plus
Education Requirements:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent.
Required Experience:
  • Ten plus years of QFS experience
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual trained
  • Prior laboratory experience and knowledge of laboratory procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable food regulations and requirements
Desired Experience:
  • Ability to make decisions based on information and data available
  • Ability to work as a team member and provide training
  • Ability to think strategically and proactively to contribute to the development of the organization
  • Ability to motivate staff and establish positive relationships across all levels of the organization
