Position Summary/Department Summary:

The Boston Children's Hospital Inpatient Psychiatry Service (IPS) Waltham, is a 12-bed, secure inpatient psychiatric unit located in the west wing of the main building, known as 5 West, Waltham, IPS. This unit is licensed by the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Psychosocial assessment for children and adolescents ages 8 to 17
• Counseling and crisis intervention
• Facilitation of the use of hospital and community services
• Resource information and referral, and program development
• Psychosocial consultation to multidisciplinary team

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Master’s degree in social work

Experience:

• One year of social work experience preferred,
• Previous experience with treatment of youth with physical illnesses who also have emotional and/or behavioral challenges preferred
• Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent communication skills are necessary

Licensure/Certifications:
 

• LCSW in the state of MA required. LICSW licensure in state of MA preferred
