Job Description Summary

The Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer (“CCO”) is accountable for meeting established SRAlab standards for overall quality, patient care practices, budgetary performance and regulatory compliance. This responsibility includes providing executive leadership and operational direction to advance clinical excellence, patient safety, and management for the physician practice across the entire SRAlab enterprise. This role is critical in ensuring alignment of physician strategy, quality, and financial objectives with SRAlab’s mission to provide transformative care and lead advancements in rehabilitation medicine. The CCO oversees physician performance, compensation planning, and the development of medical leadership to maintain the institution’s position as a global leader in innovative, patient-centered care.

Job Description

The Chief Clinical Officer will:

Clinical Leadership & Enterprise Workforce Management

  • Oversee all medical operations for the SRAlab enterprise, which includes all sites of care—Inpatient, Outpatient, DayRehab, and Alliances.

  • Collaborate with the Chair, Northwestern University Feinberg School (“NUFSM”) of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (“PM&R”) to develop new academic programs ensuring their outstanding operation and sustainability.

  • Ensure alignment and integration of clinical, quality, and medical staff initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Leadership team, throughout the SRAlab enterprise

  • Lead the recruitment, development, and retention of top-tier physicians and APPs to support the organization's growth and clinical goals.

  • Provide oversight for physician performance, ensuring alignment with institutional quality and medical staff initiatives.

  • Oversee SRAlab’s enterprise medical staff leadership, Chief Medical Affairs (CMA), Chief Quality Officer (“CQO”) and the Associate Chief Medical Officer (“ACMO”) as well as SRAlab clinical chairs, section chiefs, and medical directors, to drive performance improvement.

  • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer (“COO”) and other executive leaders to guide clinical performance and operational priorities across the organization, with a particular focus on areas aligned with physician practice leadership.

  • Resolve potential overlaps in responsibilities among the physician practice, including the CMA CQO, the ACMO and other physician leaders.

Performance Management & Compensation Planning

  • Oversee medical staff performance, including accountability for leadership roles such as CMA, ACMO, CQO, clinical chairs and section chiefs.

  • In collaboration with the Physician Steering Committee and Human Resources, develop and implement the Physician Compensation Plan, ensuring models align with organizational goals and effectively incentivize quality care, clinical innovation, and academic development.

Growth & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and expand growth opportunities through strategic affiliations with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and research organizations.

  • Enhance Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s reputation as a leader in rehabilitation medicine on a regional, national, and global scale.

Operational Planning

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement clinical and operational strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Establish performance metrics to monitor and evaluate clinical and operational effectiveness.
