PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Technical Resource Consultant is a client-facing role responsible for leading and executing consulting projects, including administrative tasks, documented corrections, and ensuring accurate billing. This role plays a key part in supporting the governance and regulatory compliance of Definiti’s Pooled Employer Plan (PEP), maintaining fiduciary oversight and operational accuracy.
Working closely with the Governance team, the Consultant will monitor evolving legislation and regulatory updates, helping to create internal documentation, SOPs, and educational resources for key stakeholders. The position may also be involved in due diligence and data integration activities related to mergers and acquisitions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Legal and Governance teams to support ongoing compliance with ERISA and DOL regulations.
- Manage the execution of consulting engagements, including scope definition, billing oversight, and fee tracking.
- Identify and work on operational corrections under EPCRS and DFVCP.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely delivery of consulting project outcomes.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments affecting retirement plans.
- Contribute to the development of firm-wide responses to new regulatory requirements.
- Partner with team leaders and internal departments to assess technical needs and implement improvements.
- Assist in the consulting and performing annual compliance testing, trust accounting preparation and Tax filings as needed for special projects.
- Review and monitor Definiti’s Pooled Employer Plans to ensure adherence to fiduciary standards.
- Represent the company on client calls, and in client meetings as needed.
- Assist with onboarding data and systems integration during acquisitions.
- Provide guidance and communication to client-facing teams, plan sponsors, financial advisors, and marketing as changes occur.
- Research complex technical topics and provide clear, documented answers.
- Identify trends in technical inquiries and contribute to internal training and resource planning.
- Maintain internal Teams Channels and SOPs with up-to-date technical guidance and documentation.
Requirements
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build rapport with others remotely while working productively with limited in-person interaction
- Successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Maintain a professional customer-service focus internally and externally including Financial Advisors.
- Display keen attention to detail for billing, fee collection and project completion, for various consulting projects
- Maintain accurate documentation and metrics for all technical questions and share across the proper Teams Channel
- Demonstrate sound judgment when making decisions and operate with discretion and integrity
- Ability to assess issues as they arise, maintain composure under pressure, and develop thoughtful and appropriate responses
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- 5+ years of full cycle administration experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret plan documents.
- Understanding of PEP structure, fiduciary responsibilities, and regulatory framework.
- Proven experience managing plan corrections and consulting projects.
- Intermediate MS skills to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to navigate web-based programs required
- Experience with PensionPro and FT Williams preferred
- ASPPA or NIPA designation (QKC, or APA) strongly preferred
