Job Description
The Senior Counsel, U.S. Policy Legal, will be responsible for executing comprehensive legal strategies to build and implement federal and state policy initiatives to support access for AbbVie products in the U.S. This role will focus on key external engagements for active policy shaping and external messaging strategy.
In addition, this role will participate in cross-functional engagements with related Legal, Government Affairs, Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC), and/or business counterparts as needed to inform strategic initiatives or build cohesive AbbVie strategies.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of AbbVie’s business, company imperatives, and keep abreast of changes in laws and government policies that affect client areas.
- Provide clear advice to Government Affairs and business clients on key federal and state laws, regulations, and policies, including the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare and Medicaid laws, the Affordable Care Act, 340B, FDA regulations, OIG guidance, and others.
- Work with legal department managers to resolve complex legal matters efficiently, and advise legal department managers of project developments in a timely manner.
- Help direct the work of outside counsel and define project objectives, and manage projects.
- Comply with applicable AbbVie policies and procedures.
- Work cross-functionally and find solutions for business clients consistent with the law, policies/procedures, and AbbVie’s Code of Conduct.
