Job Description

Turner and Townsend are seeking a Senior Construction QA/QC Manager. This position plans, conducts and oversees inspection and testing activities concerned with the quality assurance of construction contractors to ensure industrial construction, equipment installation, processes, materials and products are consistent with plans, specifications and code by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works under the direction of the client Project Director to provide oversight of contractor quality control systems management and to manage execution of owner quality assurance oversight on a large-scale industrial construction project.
  • Responsible for execution and oversight of owner quality assurance for the full spectrum of activities required to deliver a complete and useable industrial facility to include civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing/process piping, low voltage electrical, and life safety definable features of work to include installation of industrial process equipment.
  • Onsite at all times during construction.
  • Responsible for overall management of owner quality assurance and oversight of general contractor construction quality control.
  • Program with the authority to act in all quality assurance and quality control matters for the client.
  • Leads the execution of owner third party inspection and testing quality assurance work provided via an owner contract for these services.
  • Maintain all associated documents and records at the site (e.g. quality control reports, factory acceptance test reports, etc.)
  • Provide for leadership and management to execute review and approval all owner third party inspection and testing reports prepared by others.  Provide for review of general contractor construction quality control reports and associated processes.  Communicate non-conforming work to the general contractor, the owner representative team and to the owner.
  • Provide for supervision and management of line staff in the quality assurance cell in addition to coordination of work executed by the contracted quality assurance team. Accountable for work executed by subordinate and contract staff.
  • Follow up on all quality non-conformances to ensure that issues are addressed and corrected in accordance with good engineering practice, applicable codes and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with the general contractor construction quality control manager and client project engineer to obtain necessary approvals and sign offs on all corrective actions.
  • Responsible for inspection and client acceptance recommendations of core and shell structures and equipment, in addition to inspections and acceptance for installation of process related equipment.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable. 

Qualifications

  • Completion of the Construction Quality Management for contractors course within the last five (5) years, or the ability and willingness to obtain the CQM for Contractors course certification within 90 days of onboarding.
  • Verifiable experience as an approved Construction Quality Control Manager on projects (references required).
  • Experience leading and managing a quality control staff.
  • Experience in in the full range of construction disciplines preferred, at a minimum QA/QC experience in either civil/structural/architectural or mechanical/electrical/plumbing disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated planning, problem solving, data analysis, blueprint reading, organizing, inter-personal, and communication skills with proven leadership skills and decision-making abilities.
