As a key addition to the U.S based institutional sales team, Eastspring is seeking a highly energetic, entrepreneurial, motivated business development professional to join a growing team to further establish Eastspring’s brand and market traction within the North American institutional market. Preferably based in Chicago and reporting directly to the Director, Institutional Client and Consultant Development, the Senior Manager - Institutional Sales & Consultant Relations (“Senior Manager”) will work in close collaboration with the Head of the Americas and the Director of Institutional Sales to generate new business opportunities with institutional asset owners, investment consultants and other gatekeepers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for prospecting institutional asset owners within their assigned territory while seeking to engage research analysts/investment consultants in order to obtain “approved” ratings for Eastspring’s focus investment strategies. They will also help design, plan and execute marketing campaigns, roadshows, and webinars to further augment the sales process. In addition, they will monitor key developments within the N. American institutional market in terms of competitive opportunities (manager turnover, announced searches, changes in asset allocation, consultant priorities etc.) and help the US sales team devise a strategy to effectively position Eastspring to take advantage of these opportunities.

The Senior Manager will work in close collaboration with key Eastspring staff in legal, compliance, operations, RFP, marketing, product management and client service in order to coordinate the timely and accurate execution of key deliverables and to manage internal resources. The Senior Manager will also help maintain and improve Salesforce CRM as the key means of staying abreast of client/consultant/prospect outreach and the opportunity pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of the institutional sales plan, working in close coordination with the US Institutional Sales Team. Help bring greater focus, targeted prospecting, and efficiencies to the sales process in the pursuit of the established sales objectives and KPIs.
  • Leverage Salesforce CRM to assist with managing the Team’s sales territories, key prospects, opportunity pipeline, and marketing campaigns. Help maintain and improve the data within the CRM.
  • Work closely with Marketing and RFP teams in order to improve the content and messaging within marketing materials and RFPs/RFIs.
  • Proactively share information with respect to institutional investment trends, progress against goals, and new business pipeline activity with distribution, product, and investment teams.
  • Enhance Eastspring’s profile and brand through participation in industry conferences and associations.
  • Develop the necessary skills and product proficiency in order to assume a larger, client facing role within the Institutional Sales Team, with assigned prospects and consultants.

Position Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will generally possess 5-7 years’ experience working as a part of a sales team at an asset management organization, preferably with a minimum of 1-2 years prior experience in an externally focused business development and/or consultant relations capacity. Candidates who have worked within the Intermediary, Private Wealth, or Institutional channels will be considered. 
  • Proficient knowledge of key investment concepts and investment strategies and ability to communicate information to prospects/consultants both verbally and in written communications.  
  • Ideally some level of proficiency with investment tools and databases such as evestment, Factset, Morningstar etc.
  • Results oriented with a high degree of professional and corporate responsibility.
  • Exhibit the desire and ability to take on greater sales and coverage responsibilities in time in an outward, client-facing role.
  • Ability to work effectively in a less structured, entrepreneurial, and independent organization while operating across multiple time zones. 
  • Strong work ethic – driven, self-motivated with a sense of urgency and accountable for actions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Series 7 and 63 are required within 90 days.
