WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Fors Marsh is seeking an intelligent and motivated Senior Researcher to join our Military Workplace Climate research team. This individual will provide expertise in survey research, data management and analysis. The role will focus on exploring specific research questions on the measurement of workplace climate in the military including topics covering metric development, item reduction analysis, survey response rates, and the development of prevalence rates for adverse behaviors including sexual assault, sexual harassment, racial/ethnic harassment and discrimination. This job is best suited for an individual who enjoys working closely with clients, is detail-oriented, has strong data management skills, and a deep understanding of research methods.
Responsibilities include:
- Applying principles in the fields of statistics, survey methodology, and/or other social science disciplines to analyze survey and other data.
- Collaborating with clients and project teams to obtain a detailed understanding of the data requirements necessary for specific research projects. Consolidating and synthesizing information gathered to develop and disseminate appropriate project planning and documentation to the analyst team.
- Directly interfacing with team members and clients to understand their needs, manage their expectations, respond to ad hoc requests, and communicate the most pertinent results to them in a way that is useful and easy to understand.
- Working with large, complex data systems to aggregate, organize, and prepare data for analysis; responsible for cleaning and recoding data sets for use in research. Typical data sets include surveys with complex logic and branching and detailed rate construction.
- Provide actionable recommendations to clients and project teams based on research findings.
- Organizing tasks and designing project workflow with appropriate checkpoints built in for review at key quality control checkpoints.
- Identifies and manages project needs including staffing and budget.
- Preparing research reports/briefs for analyst and non-analyst audiences, written proposals, and other internal or external communications summarizing research methods, findings, and implications.
- Supervise junior to mid-level researchers.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education & experience in areas such as statistics, survey methodology, or related disciplines.
- At least six years of on the job experience working with data sets or databases.
- Previous experience programming/writing syntax in statistical software packages with strong preference for candidates who have experience in both SAS and R.
- Strong quantitative ability and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple, time-sensitive priorities with minimal direction and supervision.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.
- Applicants must be comfortable working with topics such as sexual assault, harassment, and discrimination.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and consent to a full background check due to our federal contract requirements.
