Position Specific Description

Palms is the insurance captive for NextEra Energy, Inc. Palms is responsible for assessing and analyzing the risks for insuring NextEra Energy. Palms also participates in program underwriting for both insurance and reinsurance across all commercial Property & Casualty lines of business. 

 

The Palms Summer Intern will support multiline underwriters in task such as, but not limited to:

• Pipeline management for program business on internal data bases

• Support head underwriters across multiple lines of business

• Collaborate with internal claims, actuarial, natural catastrophe, and financial teams

• Conduct preliminary deal analysis

• Review account data for completeness and accuracy

• Create standard operating procedures with operations team

• Assist in preparation of deal pitch decks for management

• Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops to grow overall insurance knowledge 

• Participate on special projects

 

The Palms Summer Intern should possess the following:

• Keen interest in learning more about the insurance industry

• Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

• Desire to develop strong analytical, communication, and underwriting skills

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists department with assigned projects
• Completes challenging projects and assignments
• Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
• Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school grad / GED
• Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
• Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
