About the role

Mutual of Omaha is seeking a skilled Senior Actuary to join our Income & Wealth Planning Health team. This role will focus on developing and executing LTC rate increases, ensuring Health product profitability, and driving innovation in data analysis. We’re looking for a data-driven leader with deep expertise in LTC insurance who can help shape our approach to meeting evolving market needs.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary: $142,000-$185,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • LTC Rate Management: Oversee LTC rate increase strategies, analyzing data dependencies to guide effective, sustainable decisions. Lead long and short-term experience studies to monitor rate effectiveness and make data-backed recommendations.
  • Financial Analysis & Projection: Conduct detailed projections and impact assessments for existing products. Partner with senior leadership to provide insight into trends and potential financial impacts, aligning with corporate growth and profit goals.
  • Product Design & Pricing: Assist with product design and pricing initiatives by managing and reviewing financial analyses, rate development, and product adjustments. Establish detailed rate scales and develop rate assumptions for both new and modified products.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Lead improvements to actuarial models, leveraging data to enhance re-rating, reserving, and forecasting. Utilize advanced analytics to assess product trends, identify risk, and improve financial outcomes.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Prepare actuarial memos for state filings, ensuring compliance with state regulations and keeping current with legislative changes affecting LTC products.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • FSA Designation: Fellow of the Society of Actuaries with comprehensive actuarial expertise, specifically within LTC insurance.
  • Data Proficiency: Advanced skills in data analysis, statistical modeling, and financial projection; proficient in data tools used for actuarial and financial modeling.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven experience in leading teams or mentoring actuarial students, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages development and adherence to actuarial standards.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to tackle complex actuarial problems with practical, data-informed solutions that align with business objectives.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
