Funko is a purveyor of pop culture and licensed-focused collectibles company located in Everett, WA. Funko currently holds hundreds of licenses and the rights to create tens of thousands of characters – one of the largest portfolios in the pop culture and collectibles industry. Funko’s Pop! Vinyl is the number one stylized vinyl collectible on the market, selling millions of figures to fans around the world. The Sr. Product Developer is responsible for making sure that concepts turn into cool Funko collectibles on retail shelves. The Sr. Product Developer will manage projects from initial conception through our art team and into production in our factories. During this process, the Sr. Product Developer will collaborate with our external licensors (Lucas Arts, Marvel, and Netflix, are a few examples), factories, and Sales teams to make sure that products are made with the required specifications. This position ensures key milestones and manufacturing/delivery dates are met. - Manage multiple products from initial ideation through design determination, development, costing, material specifications, and production (maintains on average a targeted monthly capacity established by leadership to maintain appropriate workloads with given skillsets commensurate with the role of a Sr. Product Developer).
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
- Collaborate w/ sales, engineering, and design resources to spec new products
- Owns progress on product timelines for multiple assigned product groups and ensures that set ship dates are met. This includes working with the art team to ensure creative work is delivered on time and accurately according to licensor approvals, and initial design specifications and that factory receives deliverables, produces, and ships items on time
- Works cross-functionally to ensure all department stakeholder's needs are met including sales, design, legal, procurement, and compliance holding review checkpoints before production to ensure that assigned development meets aesthetic specifications, functional or material specifications, licensor standards and safety, reliability requirements, and cost
- Creation of project timelines and hold kick off's for products within their particular license or category and ensure all dates are maintained internally, with our licensors, and factories
- Works with internal stakeholders and management autonomously to establish and update processes on individual categories or product types as needed
- Create and provide initial product tech packs to the factories on time to include all relevant product instructions, material specifications, BOM, EOQ, and required timeline to meet delivery schedules and updates as needed
- Has a vast knowledge and understanding of product costing and what elements/constructions can change costing
- Participates in factory product costing negotiations and ensures the product meets product costing targets and margins
- Has in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process across various product categories with the ability to manipulate the process in order to advance and achieve new manufacturing techniques which enhance the overall performance and appearance of the product
- Review all product samples including packaging for assigned product categories and provides detailed feedback or comments to the factory and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy on all items is maintained such as production quality, intended and approved design, product name, descriptions, images, stickers, legal lines, etc.
- Reviews testing documents to ensure products are compliant. Works cross-functionally with QA & Testing team to resolve any issues and provides guidance and direction to the factory
