OVERVIEW
The Quality Systems Coordinator is a member of the Buffalo operations Quality Group and reports directly to the site Quality Manager. The role is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of BRC certification, Quality and Food Safety systems (including the Prerequisite Programs) and the HACCP plan.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets standards and monitor procedures to ensure food safety at all stages of the operation
- Maintains and improves site BRC certification
- Leads cross-functional HACCP team including regular meetings with the HACCP team to exchange information and discuss new procedures or equipment related to food safety
- Spearheads all aspects of internal audit program consisting of cross-functional team
- Leads site’s Food Safety Committee
- Actively participates in BRC and customer’s audits, leads any necessary follow up to audit’s observations
- Manages all aspects of document control for the site’s quality programs, including development and implementation of procedures and forms to support quality and food safety systems
- Reads, interprets, and cross-references the accuracy of large number of records which requires a broad and specialized knowledge of the content
- Develops and delivers training and orientation materials about HACCP and related topics (GMPs, sanitation, etc.)
- Manages site’s local and corporate systems for quality training records
- Manages corrective actions program, including verification of corrective actions completion and their effectiveness
- Performs traceability exercises
- Manages all aspects of site’s pest control programs
- Assists in preparation of necessary reports and trending information
- Works with Supplier Quality on approving new suppliers and new ingredients
- Liaises with ASR corporate staff on methods and policies development
- Interacts with Supplier Quality in order to communicate company standards for quality and safety of incoming products
- Interacts with purchasing, maintenance, process, packaging and warehouse supervisory teams to ensure reliability of food safety programs
- Practices and promotes GMPs and plant safety procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCE
- HACCP and related food safety training
- BRC or other related GFSI benchmarked standard training / certification
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control practices and procedures
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English
- Preferred experience working as a GFSI practitioner
- Preferred experience in the development and maintenance of HACCP Plans
- Preferred experience working on an internal audit team
- Preferred experience working with pest control service providers
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited college/university is required
- At least 1 year of applicable professional experience working with quality & food safety systems
