About the role
Alexa Shopping NLP is seeking for a Sr Software Developer manager (Sr SDM) with proven experience leading teams in Natural Language Processing field, interested in infusing customer obsession into how Alexa engages in natural language interactions. The products and capabilities enabled by this role will deliver unprecedented experiences in the AI industry by innovating on how our customers discover, interact and shop for million of products sold on Amazon.
This Sr SDM will lead their teams in using cutting edge large language models (LLMs) to implement new natural interactions in the way customers use natural language. They will own key end to end products and features that are broadly recognized and used across locales, languages and Alexa enabled devices around the world.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will responsible of defining your teams' structure and developing talent across a wide variety of technical job families, including software engineering, science and language experts. You will have the unique opportunity to directly manage and collaborate with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing industry leaders. You will work to understand detailed business requirements, create and define 3+ year tech strategies and participate in the execution and delivery of envisioned products and conversational capabilities. This role presents you with the unique opportunity to work on both a mission critical system as well as a newly-built greenfield systems in one of the most strategic investment areas of Amazon.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $176,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing Machine Learning systems
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years working in Machine Learning heavy systems. Preferable in Large Language Models problem space.
