About the role
The Corrosion Control Specialist performs aircraft corrosion control to include washing, cleaning, corrosion detection, corrosion removal, metal treatment, and touch up painting. Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and/or components for complete repaint.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks as assigned /directed by Crew Leader and/or Lead Man with instructions,
applicable technical data, manuals, and directives. - Perform the duties and responsibilities of the Aircraft Washer classification.
- Preserve and de-preserve aircraft.
- Complete applicable maintenance forms.
- Use hand and power tools as required for corrosion prevention, treatment and touch up painting.
- Detect, identify, remove, and treat corrosion.
- Perform touch up painting. Touch up is defined as an area no larger than one square foot,
excluding aircraft leading edges. - Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and / or components for complete repainting
including the application of model, labels, and the makeup, cut out and preparation of stencils. - Provide and maintain own hand tools as prescribed by minimum tool list.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required for training of personnel in the same or lesser grade classifications in area of responsibility. Demonstrates job
procedures. - Ensure that all aircraft parts/components removed from an aircraft are properly documented by a valid Maintenance Action Form and Job Control Number, ensuring repairable,
serviceable, or unserviceable parts are properly tagged and turned in and/or disposed of. - Comply with and follow established standards of workmanship, safety, quality, and
production. - Perform the duties and responsibilities of the lesser grade classifications in area of
responsibility. - Make recommendations to management to improve productivity, increase efficiencies,
and/or cut costs. - Operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Comply with all applicable programs, including Safety, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Communications, Corrosion Control, and Tool Control.
- Maintain Emergency Reclamation locker and perform duties of emergency reclamation member as directed by program technical manuals.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Satisfactory completion of The U.S. Navy Corrosion Control School or acceptable substitute or FAA Airframe License.
- Two (2) or more years general experience in aircraft corrosion control.
- Able to pass any Government and/or Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
