Job Summary:

Responsible for managing the indirect consumer loan program including lending, processing and underwriting. Ensures proper and timely issuance of Credit Union consumer products and services to members, making certain that members receive the quality of service desired, with the “close and caring touch” described in the mission statement. 



Essential Job Duties:

Leadership:

  • Liaise with HR and OD to recruit, onboard, develop, and retain high-quality staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely one-on-ones and performance evaluations.  
  • Effectively coaches, mentors, motivates, and manages the staff to ensure delivery of communications to employees in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining the Credit Union’s high standard of quality.
  • Ensures that the department fosters a productive, rewarding work environment that provides for the development of employees; meets all established goals and metrics; and operates within the Credit Union’s core values. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Oversee the production and service for the indirect consumer lending department.
  • Work with executive leadership to develop, implement, and manage business initiatives, budget, and policies in relation to Vision 2035.
  • Correct and minimize findings from various internal and external audits and exams to maintain high compliance standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison with third party vendors and assist with vendor management
  • Review and make decisions on loans that exceed the lending officer approval limits.
  • Active member and participant in Credit Committee.
  • Research and present appropriate new loan products and services, as well as enhancements to existing products and pricing/promotional strategies to ensure competitive consumer loan programs.
  • Implement solutions to reduce cost and/or streamline operational processes related to consumer loans.
  • Acts as the primary contact for industry related representatives to enhance the member experience and provide future business opportunities.
  • Actively listening to and assessing the needs of the member, explaining the features and benefits of targeted products and services, and offering targeted solutions to meet the member’s needs
  • Work with other departments to develop targeted products and services to meet the member’s needs
  • Develops, tracks, and reports key sales performance measurements for indirect consumer teams.
  • Delivers training on products, services, systems, incentive plans, sales strategies and behaviors that enhance the mortgage experience and empower employees and leaders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners to provide seamless product and service delivery to members and to achieve consumer loan goals.
  • Evaluate and develop policies, processes and systems to ensure effective delivery of consumer loans through all delivery channels.
  • Ensure effective education and guidance is provided to members in order to achieve their financial goals.
  • Evaluate and manage risks related to the delivery of consumer loan products in a manner that provides maximum service value to members and an appropriate level of risk to the Credit Union.
  • Acts as a Loan Officer when needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Familiar and comfortable with information technology, particularly digital means of communication.

Strong organizational skills in managing multiple initiatives.   

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  

Strong ability to analyze member issues, loan files and interpret credit information.


Knowledge:

Possesses strong lending knowledge judgment. 


Education and Experience:

Minimum eight years’ combined experience lending, leadership and financial institutions with a minimum of five years in lending and a minimum of three years’ experience in managing a team/department.  

Minimum bachelor’s degree or certification in business administration, finance, lending, or related field, or more than eight years of related experience. 


Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.
