JOB OVERVIEW
As a Server, you will be responsible for taking orders from and serving food to Guests. Duties
will mostly include taking food and drink orders, writing them down on order slips, effectively
communicating orders to kitchen staff, ensuring that tables are served properly, and that all
payments are collected.
A server lead helps lead the serving staff and makes sure all tasks set forth by the manager are
getting completed by the staff in a timely manner. This position is an extension of management and
reports directly to the Front of House manager, where applicable, and the General Manager.
This position requires you to work during the evening, on weekends, and occasionally on
holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
▪ While the server lead is not a manager, they are responsible for training new hires in the
service style of the restaurant and standard operating procedures including safety and
sanitation expectations according to company policies.
▪ The server lead is expected to be fully knowledgeable about the menu, daily specials,
bar list, and shares that knowledge with new servers who ask questions about
describing dishes to guests, how the dishes are prepared, and any particulars about
serving dishes such as table-side preparations and any needs of guests.
▪ The server lead is expected to maintain a responsible and positive attitude while leading
the other staff members when a manager isn't present or is busy with other tasks.
▪ Resolving customer complaints with the food or service.
▪ For food issues, the lead server makes sure an unhappy guest receives his meal properly
prepared or modified to his satisfaction.
▪ Take food and drink orders from Guests accurately and with a positive attitude.
▪ Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into
computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
▪ Engage with Guests in a friendly manner.
▪ Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
▪ Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
▪ Collect payments from tables.
▪ Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
▪ Help food preparation staff when necessary.
▪ Complete pre/post shift duties such as polishing and rolling silverware, filling ice bins,
and whatever other task your GM or supervisor assigns to you.
▪ Cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire
▪ Positive attitude
▪ Ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks, and other staff.
▪ Food Handlers certification as required by County regulations.
▪ Previous work experience involving customer service in a fast-paced environment is greatly
desired.
▪ Must have the availability to open and/or close regularly.
▪ Must complete online training course of responsible serving of alcohol.
