Summary of Job Duties:
Principal responsibilities will include co-directing the ASMSA Wind Ensemble, assisting with the administrative duties, ASBOA responsibilities, and scheduling student events, as well as coaching chamber groups and sectionals, teaching lessons in the candidate’s applied area family (brass strongly preferred), and/or teaching in other areas of experience or specialty, with a projected class load of 4 or 5 courses or course equivalencies per semester.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in music with at least three years of full-time teaching experience in the secondary and/or post-secondary domains is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates who have experience teaching jazz, pop performance, and/or music technology are strongly encouraged to apply. ASMSA’s music program takes part in all Arkansas School Band and Orchestra-regulated activities, and the ensembles encourage growth, community, and excellence through performance opportunities.
Additional Information:
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in working with gifted students, teaching through technology, developing interdisciplinary curricula, team planning skills, and problem-solving skills congruent to a growing, dynamic academic program within a multidisciplinary institution.
