About the role

Description

This position maintains key responsibility for financial and fiscal management aspects of agency operations for 11 legal entities. Partners with key leaders to provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, accounting, and budgeting efforts of the organization. Collaborates with existing accounting staff to ensure successful completion of the following duties:


  1. Coordinates and executes preparation of financial statements, financial reports and special analyses for presentation and review with department leaders. 
  2. Ensures compliance with regulatory reporting requirements for grant reporting (work with grant director) and HUD properties (work with property manager on rental records, collections, evictions, notices, budgeting in One Site).  
  3. Coordinates and provides supporting records for annual audit and nonprofit tax return. 
  4. Oversees and processes revenue, expenses, general ledger entry and account maintenance in Real Page accounting software (similar to Sage Intacct).
  5. Establishes and maintains appropriate internal accounting controls.
  6. Monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and balance sheet subsidiary records. 
  7. Monitors daily cash needs and prepares projection of future cash needs.
  8. Facilitates annual budgeting process and the monitoring of monthly budget variances. 
  9. Develops and maintains step-by-step job aids on position duties. Ensures annual update of accounting policy manual.
  10. Support all payroll functions impacting accounting and the reconciliation of all payroll related general ledger accounts. Serve as a backup for running payroll and reviews prior to payroll being submitted in Paylocity HRIS system. 


Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, with 5 years in a finance or accounting preferred. Experience in non-profits and grants, preferred. Knowledge in the following areas preferred: finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; financial and accounting reporting systems; HUD reporting and federal and state grant guidelines. Must have ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections; have professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
