PROJECT BACKGROUND AND DESCRIPTION

Dr. Carla Hilario, Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing, is hiring a Graduate Academic Assistant (GAA) to support qualitative data collection for a project titled, Investigating racism in youth mental health care. With guidance from the PI (Dr. Hilario) and the Research Coordinator, the GAA will be engaged in participant recruitment and qualitative data collection, and will support data analysis as needed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Set up Qualtrics page to gather participant consent and record demographic information
• Liaise with participants to answer questions, confirm eligibility, and set up interviews
• Tailor and revise project materials as needed, such as project information letters, interview guides, etc.
• Conduct interviews with study participants (via Zoom)
• Complete research memos and an audit trail
• Review and prepare transcripts for analysis
• Assist with qualitative data analysis using Nvivo software
• Support youth engagement via the project youth advisory group
• Assist in implementing other related study activities as needed
• Liaise with the Research Coordinator and Principal Investigator regularly

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate student in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Health Sciences, or a related field
• Solid knowledge of and experience with qualitative research methods including participant recruitment, data collection, and analysis
• Experience conducting research interviews
• Experience using Zoom video conferencing technology
• Some familiarity with topics related to youth mental health, discrimination in health services, and/or mental health services and service use
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
