The Branch Manager develops new client and business opportunities for the Branch while maintaining and building upon current relationships. In addition, the individual will provide technical overview and counsel on project organization, budget, work schedules, and legal and client considerations. They are responsible for Branch and project staffing as well as encouraging and motivating subordinates.

Job Responsibilities:
- Overall Profit and Loss responsibility including management and controls of budgets, utilization, collections, and other costs impacting profitability.
- Responsible for overall Branch Safety and works closely with Regional Safety Director and Site Safety Representative to ensure all department personnel are properly trained, supervised, and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office, laboratory, on construction project sites and in vehicles, while serving as a steward of UES and of a safe and secure work environment for all UES employees.
- Actively participate in development and implementation brand strategy for UES including participating in industry events and messaging the brand to customers and clients through communication channels to gain industry and market recognition for UES.
- Contribute to sales innovations, strategic business development and overall project profitability, in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Actively participate on the Western Leadership Council (WLC) collaborating with other leaders in the organization to execute an agreed-upon strategic plan and build an outline of tactics to accomplish each component, specifically but not exclusively as each relates to marketing, business development, technical training, research, budgeting, financial expenditures, and monetary and nonmonetary investments.
- Actively coach UES personnel to ensure that all department personnel are properly trained, supervised, and equipped with the necessary tools to foster their success and growth both personally and professionally.
- Ensures that all personnel adhere to the requirements of the company Safety, Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manuals and policies and procedures.
- Supervises the efficient utilization of all facilities and equipment assigned to the Branch and makes requests for additional equipment and facilities as needed to meet the client's demands.
- Directs the short-range business development activities of all department personnel to ensure that adequate revenue is available to support labor costs.
- Collaborate with Mountain West Area Vice President to keep Regional/Executive leadership apprised of significant events in the Branch.
- Alongside the WLC, ensure appropriate governance and controls are in place and practiced to limit and mitigate risk.
- Provide and practice leadership at all times including, but especially, in the event of a crisis.
- Reinforce UES’ Mission, Vision and Values through daily actions.
- Mentor UES’ growing talent pool while ensuring that your own technical development and training continues.
- Active engagement in 2 professional organizations that are applicable to our industry – with one being a leadership role (i.e., Board, Officer, Committee, etc.). Organization should be pre-approved by direct supervisor.
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or Physical Sciences preferred. Advanced degree is highly desirable.
- 10+ years of experience in applied Engineering, Construction Management, or Physical Sciences for which five years are in project management and supervisory responsibilities
- Must have thorough knowledge and experience in either geotechnical engineering or environmental services consulting business.
- Planning, organizing, and delegating ability to drive Branch and Region results.
- Experience staffing, directing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary professional staff.
- Experience in the effective use of scheduling and cost control techniques.
- Ability to motivate and train staff and to earn staff respect based on technical and managerial competence and abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed PE in the State of Utah preferred.
