At Groupon, we believe that great people make great companies, and our customer-centric approach moves us forward.</p><p></p><p>We are seeking an accomplished leader for the role of Global Head of Payroll, someone who can elevate Groupon's Payroll team to new heights. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will be a key player in steering major projects to enhance our Payroll services and systems on a global scale. Groupon’s Payroll team manages employee payrolls in 10+ countries across the globe, and the Global Head of Payroll will need to coordinate with key stakeholders in Groupon’s global HR, Compensation & Benefits, Finance, and Treasury teams.</p><p></p><p>You will be responsible for making sure employees and statutory requirements are paid correctly and on time as well as effectively managing relationships with the outsourced payroll provider. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all types of contributions and benefits have been correctly accounted for within our HR and Finance systems as well as having been correctly calculated and paid.</p><p>Groupon has a strong “customer service” philosophy and you will be expected to ensure that Payroll related queries are resolved quickly and sympathetically. Working in an international role requires a good grasp of international payroll issues, practices, and cross border matters, such as the management of expat payrolls and payroll tax issues.</p><p></p><p>You’ll spend time on the following:</p><p></p><ul><li>Provide strategic direction for the Payroll function, ensuring alignment with Groupon's global business objectives. </li><li>Act as a key advisor to executive leadership on payroll-related matters.</li><li>Lead and oversee the monthly Payroll process across multiple regions, acting as the primary contact for complex payroll issues. Collaborate with regional HR, Legal, Finance, Corporate Tax, and Stock Services teams.</li><li>Drive and collaborate on high-impact projects related to payroll systems, processes, and provider transitions. Work closely with internal HRIS teams and external payroll vendors to implement improvements. </li><li>Ensure payroll operations remain SOX compliant. Stay abreast of international payroll regulations, legislative updates, and their impact on payroll procedures. </li><li>Mitigate risks and promptly notify senior management of any compliance issues.</li><li>Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of the Payroll Process for various regions. </li><li>Implement controls and provide training to ensure adherence to standardized processes. </li><li>Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including HR, Compensation & Benefits, Finance, and Treasury teams. </li><li>Address payroll-related queries promptly and with a customer-centric approach.</li><li>Demonstrate a deep understanding of international payroll issues, practices, and cross-border matters, such as managing expat payrolls and addressing payroll tax issues.</li></ul><p></p><p>We’re excited about you if you have: </p><ul><li><p>University degree in computer science, MIS, business analytics, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent with 8+ years of related work experience.</p></li><li><p>3+ years of people management experience</p></li><li><p>Proven track record overseeing multi-country regional payroll and payroll tax, with a focus on the EMEA region.</p></li><li><p>Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential.</p></li><li><p>Fluent English written and spoken.</p></li><li><p>Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.</p></li><li><p>Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, taking independent and decisive action.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of e-commerce is a plus.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Join us on our mission to shape the world's marketplace operating system and lead Groupon's Global Payroll function to new heights.
