Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to build community trust by coordinating all forms of public engagement activities associated with construction and ACCGov capital project development and delivery. The position produces educational materials including digital content, traditional media content, and printed displays and publications; coordinates various in-person events including public Oversight Commission meetings and ceremonial events; manages the Department’s web presence and usability including dashboards and posted reports; works collaboratively with the Communications Department, sponsor departments, partner agencies, and external consultants. As needed, this position will also perform routine office tasks.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Examples of duties
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Education, Business Administration, or related discipline with two years of public relations, marketing, education, or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must possess a valid driver's license.Qualifications

Directs public education and outreach efforts related to Capital Projects and Programs following the ACCGov Community Engagement Playbook and other guiding resources.
Produces educational materials including digital content, traditional media content, and printed displays and publications.
Develops and coordinates distribution of promotional material for department programs. Coordinates with Communications Department, sponsor departments, partner agencies, and external consultants.
Attends various community events in-person for educational and outreach purposes.
Coordinates various in-person events including public Oversight Commission meetings, ceremonial events related to construction, and impacted property owners engagement.
Assists with the development and presentation of capital project-related presentations, including to the Mayor and Commission.
Provides all necessary public meeting support including, as needed, digital calendars, webex/teams configuration, space reservations, technology preparations, and written documents like agendas, minutes, or summaries.
Assists sponsor departments with project-related public engagement, meetings, and material distribution.
Serves as media relations liaison for the Capital Projects/SPLOST Department.
Maintains the Capital Projects web presence and usability.
Assists in preparing budget proposals for educational components for Capital Projects and Programs.
Provides information and other customer services to residents and commissioners.
Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Capital Projects Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Program Education Specialist.
Knowledge of maps, graphs, charts, grant proposals, time sheets, fact sheets, project plan sheets, etc., and procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties.
Knowledge of computer software packages as necessary in the performance of job duties, including graphic art software and Excel.
Knowledge of the use of office equipment, such as computers, copy machines, smart boards, etc.
Knowledge of photography and videography, including digital editing and production.
