Corporate Affairs proactively manages social, political, and reputational risks for Chevron and engages the workforce to advance the business. We strengthen Chevron's strategic advocacy, communications, and social investments to build confidence in our company and industry.

Chevron’s strategy is straight-forward: be a leader in efficient and lower carbon production of traditional energy, in high demand today and for decades to come, while growing lower carbon businesses that will be a bigger part of the future. To achieve these goals, we’ll build on the assets, experience, capabilities, and relationships we’ve developed over 140 years to incubate and grow new business.

Reputation Management, Impact and Analytics is a team within Chevron’s Corporate Affairs (Corporate Affairs includes communications, policy, government and public affairs, and stakeholder engagement) organization that is responsible for understanding how a broad ecosystem of stakeholders perceive Chevron and what perceptions mean for enterprise risk, engagement, and strategic choice.  We translate digital listening and discovery, qualitative and quantitative opinion research, and a deep understanding of stakeholder expectations into insights for functional, business and executive leaders.

What does our work inform?

  • Issue response
  • Stakeholder sensitivities
  • Advocacy strategy and initiatives
  • External and internal communications
  • Local presence and partnerships

This role is part of a company-wide capability that links stakeholder perceptions and drivers of reputation to corporate affairs outcomes —policy support, advocacy, investor confidence, employee engagement, partner trust, and Chevron’s ability to operate effectively and credibly in communities and markets (license to operate resilience). We are looking for an audience-oriented opinion research professional who believes that understanding stakeholder differences through listening, learning, segmentation, and measurement is critical to developing compelling communications and enhancing corporate reputation. Based on business needs, this role has core responsibilities in three areas:

Qualitative + quantitative project management

  • Design and oversee complex custom research across qualitative, quantitative and advanced methodologies; ensure creative, custom methodologies are executed with rigor and impact
  • Lead end-to-end study design across a variety of methods: stakeholder deep dives, elite interviews, focus groups, ethnographic approaches where appropriate, pulse surveys, longitudinal tracking.
  • Provide oversight to vendors and partners on methodologies and approaches, ensuring delivery against key milestones, with sound judgement on when to elevate challenges
  • Ensure research produces predictive and diagnostic outputs (not just descriptive findings), including effect sizes, uncertainty, and scenario implications.

Establish corporate affairs research standards

  • Manage research-related intake across Corporate Affairs teams: work across our global businesses to understand strategic needs and provide guidance on existing insights or convert into briefs for review and prioritization.
  • Work with Senior Manager on reputation measurement governance. Responsible for templates that deliver more efficient intake, processing, or analysis.
