Senior Linux Engineer (Hybrid, Athens)

ManpowerGroup Greece, on behalf of its client, is seeking for a Senior Linux Engineer for the ICT Team in Athens.

Our client is a well-known firm that provides Managed and IT Services to Enterprise clients. The company’s headquarters are in Thessaloniki and have also a branch in Athens.

🖋️You will be reporting to: Networking and Systems Manager

What you will do:

You will be part of the infrastructure team and you will play an important role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based systems. You will perform Linux administration, server optimization, and troubleshooting tasks, to ensure stability, security, and performance of critical IT infrastructure.

More specifically, you will:

• Support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of end customer AIX/Linux operating systems
• Plan, implement and perform maintenance tasks (new software releases, upgrades,  updates, fixes) for core operating systems and their related components, following industry best practices
• Uphold and follow the client’s SLAs, for troubleshooting and problem-solving scenarios
• Perform monitoring tasks, through Company’s AIX/LINUX monitoring platform, providing actions to customer situations
• Participate in Stand by Support plan, for certain customer systems
• Document engineering work, incident resolution and recurring incidents; creating technical analysis, performance, and enhancement reports
• Provide advanced technical support and serve as an escalation point for IT incidents and service requests, including third parties (e.g. manufacturer or vendor) as necessary
• Provide subject matter expertise in operating systems engineering
• Work with other information technology professionals to resolve performance issues and optimize performance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent
• 5+ years of working experience as a Linux Administrator
• Working experience and knowledge of Linux RedHat, SUSE, CentOS.
• Experience in implementing and improving platform security
• Ability to address and solve technical issues, received by the Helpdesk, based on strict SLAs
• Strong technical skills in managing transactions within systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Greek and English enabling effective communication with all levels of management
• Strong Project management skills
• Strong customer service skills and mindset

It would be considered an asset:

• Any experience in AIX operating system

• Linux Certifications (i.e RedHat)
• Any experience in virtualization technologies, KVM, POWER VM
• Any experience in cloud administration (Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud)
• Participation in Linux communities by being an active contributor
