Broad Scope & Purpose:

The Federal Business Development, Vice President is a senior sales leader within BD Medication Management Systems (MMS) business unit. This role is responsible for delivering a well-managed and growing business across our federal government customers by understanding both the customers’ and BDs business strategies and initiatives, and by selling Connected Medication Management solutions that bring value to our customers. This position will build and foster strategic relationships with senior leaders the DHA, VA, Indian Health and Federal Bureau of Prisons.

  Primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead a cross-functional team to achieve/surpass revenue targets across customers within our federal government sector.

  • Hire, develop, and retain a team of high performing Directors of National Accounts, Account Executives, and Associate Account Executives.  Accountable for the direction, coaching, and feedback for the federal account team.

  • Effectively collaborate with the SCG Federal Team and the Government Contracts team to grow MMS business and ensure compliance with all federal requirements

  • Intimately understand the customer’s business strategies and industry direction and generate long-term, agile, and customer-centric plans that align customer and BD MMS business priorities.

  • Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and developing their team

  • Prepare an annual business plan with sales goals, competitive analysis, and strategies and tactics.

  • Collaborates with platform, marketing, quality, regulatory, and legal to ensure MMS solutions and approaches are all compliant with federal government standards.

  • Serves as the primary advocate for the federal government to the product management teams to ensure all products are developed with federal requirements in mind.

  • Engages key influencers across assigned customers to ensure their proactive support of BD MMS products and solutions.

  • Responsible for accurately forecasting and managing all opportunities within area of responsibility.

Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience selling to the federal government institutions required

  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred 

    • 10+ years progressively responsible sales experience

    • 2-4 years management experience, including people-leadership experience

  • MMS full Product portfolio expertise is strongly preferred  

    • Experience with complex sales cycles with multiple call points (Nursing, IT, Pharmacy, Finance & Supply Chain) 

  • HIT and capital sales experience preferred

  • Strong presentation skills 

  • Proven ability to develop multiple executive sponsors

  • Ability to travel 50% - 60% of time 

  • Proven product knowledge in business area 

  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company. Driving records will be monitored on an annual    basis or as needed.

  • Must possess and maintain a criminal background satisfactory to the        

Company. Criminal backgrounds will be monitored on an annual basis or as needed.

  • Must be able to meet and maintain customer/medical facility access requirements, including regular or periodic drug screenings with a satisfactory result in accordance with the requirements of the customer/medical facility serviced by the Company.
