Detailed Description:

The selected candidate will work with and be mentored by strong, local, and nationally recognized, senior engineers on a variety of environmental-related projects. Areas of work will be focused on municipal stormwater, water resources, wastewater collections, and treatment. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work on a variety of environmental engineering projects with an emphasis on water and wastewater facilities, conveyance/distribution systems, and water resources.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations, execute design calculations, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Assist with project management-related tasks for various engineering design projects.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
  • Assist with studies and alternative analysis.
  • Assist with the development of permitting plans and permit applications.
  • Assist with hydraulic modeling for stormwater, potable water, and wastewater.
  • Duties may also include field activities and site investigations.
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Successfully deliver assignments on time and on budget.
  • Participate in and adhere to BC’s QA/QC process.
  • Expected to be in the office (in person) at least two days per week.

To qualify for an internship, you must be enrolled in a full-time program (minimum nine credit hours per semester) seeking a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Sciences. You also must be in good standing and carry an overall GPA of least 2.8 in your core curriculum, as well as a minimum overall GPA of 2.8.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer skills a must
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts
  • Excellent organization and communication skills with extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work at various sites
  • Candidate must have current driver's license and good driving record
  • Candidate must be physically able to work in the field under varying conditions including the use of personal protective equipment
  • Candidate must have access to a vehicle

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $17.80/hr - $24.50/hr

Location B:  $19.60/hr - $26.90/hr

Location C:  $21.40/hr - $29.40/hr
