The role

The Accounting Manager – Finance Transformation is an important leadership role within the Controllership organization reporting to the Director, Corporate Accounting. This role is responsible for the strategy and implementation of automation and digital transformation solutions for the SoFi Controllership team. The responsibilities include 1) interfacing between different stakeholder groups (both internal and external) and 2) driving the program management and testing of a large-scale, complex system implementation. 

 

What you’ll do:

● Lead implementation of a new systems for the Company working closely with business partners, subject matter experts, and third-party consultants to execute activities from the design to deploy phase 

● Support the establishment and execution of an overall project plan

● Coordinate the requirements gathering, design, and delivery of the finance solution. As well as coordinate timelines and resource dependencies to enable data conversion and migration activities.

● Establish system requirements for implementation of the ERP, perform user testing, and post implementation validation

 Collaborate with internal and external workstream leads to bring source system and business process knowledge together to conduct data mapping and data profiling exercises for effective system integrations

● Collaborate with internal and external workstream leads to execute master data mapping and validations. Ensuring the successful conversion and migration of data from source (current) system to target (future) systems

● Conduct workshops to carry out the future state process design, build discussions, testing activities, training, deployment, and support

● Serve as business lead in training Controllership organization on use and best practice of the new systems

● Work closely with the cross-functional teams in the organization to ensure end to end seamless integration to ensure one source of truth for all information leveraged for financial reporting

● Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the organization’s accounting systems, processes, and controls, with an eye towards process improvements

● Identify opportunities and drive improvements in accounting, reporting and compliance processes / timelines to increase efficiency of the organization while strengthening internal controls

● Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and collaborate with them to drive desired outcomes

● Implement the organization’s process improvement priorities as set by the SVP Controller and key accounting leaders

● Play a key role in the development and implementation of our technology roadmap including business process transformation initiatives and system implementations

 

What you’ll need:

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field

● 5+ years of progressive experience and a proven record of leading high performing diverse teams 

● Public company experience in a fast-growing global company 

● Systems experience with large GL applications (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP)

● Experience with consolidations

● Strong oral and written communication skills. 

● Ability to tailor communication and key messages to the audience. 

● High initiative and a self-starter who operates with a sense of urgency and is highly process-driven and detail-oriented

● Change agent with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams

● Strategic thinker capable of translating a vision into tactical execution

 

Nice to have:

● Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master of Accounting

● System implementation experience 

● Strong knowledge of technical accounting and public company best practices

● Familiarity with finance planning tools (ex: IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), Anaplan, Host Analytics / Planful etc.) with an understanding/vision of how to architect the perfect solution
