<p><strong>WHY BOX NEEDS YOU</strong></p>
<p>We’re looking for a <strong>Senior Staff Software Engineer</strong> to lead a critical modernization effort in one of Box’s core product areas. This is a <strong>full stack</strong> role with a <strong>strong frontend emphasis</strong>, where <strong>React Native experience is a plus</strong>. You’ll play a pivotal role in re-architecting our <strong>large-scale legacy codebase</strong>, while shaping the technical foundation for how we build cross-functional, enterprise-grade products going forward.</p>
<p>In this role, you’ll define the next generation of how Box builds mobile-forward, secure, and scalable user experiences. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Design leadership across Box to drive architectural decisions and ship elegant solutions that meet the high bar expected of Box’s enterprise platform.</p>
<p><strong>WHAT YOU’LL DO</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead the technical direction of a large-scale, <strong>multi-year React Native migration</strong>, transforming legacy systems into a modern, maintainable stack.</li>
<li>Design and implement high-impact features that serve <strong>enterprise customers</strong> with complex use cases and security needs.</li>
<li>Define <strong>standards and architecture</strong> for building frontend-heavy, cross-platform experiences across mobile and web.</li>
<li>Partner closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Security, and Engineering) to ensure architectural choices balance velocity, scalability, and user experience.</li>
<li>Ship code! Be hands-on in prototyping and contributing production-grade solutions.</li>
<li>Provide mentorship to senior engineers and help grow technical leadership within the team.</li>
<li>Participate in and lead technical architecture working groups to drive alignment across engineering teams.</li>
<li>Act as a technical thought leader within Box Poland and a key collaborator with global partners.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>WHAT YOU’LL TACKLE IN THE FIRST 6–12 MONTHS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Re-architect a large legacy frontend codebase</strong> into a scalable, React Native-first foundation.</li>
<li>Help define <strong>how we build products moving forward</strong> — including tooling, workflows, and architectural patterns.</li>
<li>Set up frameworks for <strong>cross-functional collaboration</strong> between backend, frontend, and mobile engineers.</li>
<li>Balance rapid delivery with long-term technical investments.</li>
<li>Ensure Box's frontend architecture can scale with enterprise-grade performance, accessibility, and maintainability.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>WHO YOU ARE</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>12+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong <strong>frontend and full stack</strong> focus.</li>
<li>Deep experience with <strong>React</strong> (React Native a strong plus), <strong>TypeScript</strong>, and <strong>modern JavaScript frameworks</strong>.</li>
<li>Experience working with or migrating <strong>legacy codebases</strong> into modern, component-based architectures.</li>
<li>Proven ability to design and ship <strong>enterprise-grade products</strong> at scale.</li>
<li>Experience driving <strong>cross-functional technical direction</strong> and aligning stakeholders around architecture decisions.</li>
<li>Familiarity with <strong>backend systems</strong> (Java is a plus) and ability to engage in full stack thinking.</li>
<li>Passionate about mentoring and building a strong engineering culture.</li>
<li>BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.</li>
<li>Comfortable working in hybrid environments; able to travel to the U.S. at least twice a year for team off-sites<br/><br/></li>
