We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Disney Cruise LIne organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Enterprise Technology and Newbuild Technology from across the company.
The Lead Network Engineer will report to the Senior Manager of Techology.
About The Role & Team:
- The Lead Network Engineer designs, installs, configures, implements and supports all aspects of the network environment onboard DCL ships, private islands, and ship to shore communications infrastructure providing technical guidance, oversight and acting as a point of escalation and technical expertise. The Lead Network Engineer oversees implementation and support activities for the on-ship wired and wireless network for Disney Cruise Line and all systems the ships interact with, including those at Castaway Cay and ports of embarkation. The Lead Network Engineer conducts work of the highest complexity to ensure maximum availability of network systems onboard DCL ships, working in collaboration with the onshore network resources provided by DTSS and peer teams at DCL IT
What You'll Do:
Lead the design of a complete and complex framework, system, or product (i.e. Provides technical guidance and oversight to senior and mid-level network engineers.
Leads Network Engineering team members in problem analysis and issue resolution, serving as an escalation point for complex problems.
Coaches, guides, and mentors Network Engineering team members on best practices, standards and technology.
Recommends improvements to processes and technology that enhance the effectiveness of the team and the onboard network infrastructure.
Oversees and performs monitoring, alerting, reporting, and trending of network systems. Develops and deploys comprehensive Quality of Service profiles across media dense merged networks. Oversees and performs preventative network firmware and hardware upgrades/maintenance while providing maximum availability. Oversees and provides day-to-day support for wired and wireless network operations onboard and in support of ship to shore infrastructure. Creates specifications for provisioning network equipment that adheres to the technology refresh cycle and maintains technical currency. Manages network systems security and ensures all DTSS security standards are implemented and maintained. Provides oversight, configuration and maintenance of circuits and cross connections between DCL assets and third-party providers. Performs advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution (on-call support and backup support for team). Ensures 24x7 operational support and maintenance onboard. Manages and designs major aspects of network infrastructure, monitoring tools, and security systems. Leads troubleshooting of switches, routers, content switching equipment and security network devices. Develops configuration standards for network devices that adhere to corporate policy. Guides in documenting network configurations and ensures all configurations are backed up in a timely manner. Provides technical guidance and consultation to colleagues and customers as needed.

- Help engage around the estimation and planning of highly sophisticated scalable projects and their budget allocations
- Stay aligned with emerging technologies in your domain to enable informed recommendations
- This role will entail frequent travel, approximately 30-40% of the time, to provide support to DCL shipyards, drydocks, and islands as needed
