EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS

The Position: The Executive Director for Health & Wellness provides executive leadership and strategic direction for Cal State LA’s integrated health and wellness enterprise. This position serves as the University’s chief health officer and senior administrator responsible for coordinating medical, mental health, and wellness promotion services that advance student success and equity across a diverse, urban campus community. The Executive Director directs strategic planning, policy development, fiscal and personnel management, and accreditation compliance for the Health & Wellness portfolio. This includes Clinical Services, Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), and Health Promotion and Education. The incumbent provides vision for integrated care delivery, ensures alignment with CSU and state regulatory standards, and advises campus leadership on student health, public health preparedness, and behavioral health concerns. Some evening and weekend hours are required to support student programs and emergencies. On-campus leadership presence is required during operations and public health events.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Terminal degree in health, behavioral health, public health, or higher education discipline (MD, DO, DNP, PhD, PsyD, DrPH, EdD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution. At least ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education or healthcare administration. Experience in accreditation, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement. Demonstrated expertise in integrated health and wellness models, strategic planning, and accreditation oversight. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive service delivery. Proven record of managing complex organizations and supervising licensed professionals. Strong interpersonal, communication, crisis leadership, and organizational management skills. Ability to act decisively under stressful situations. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.
California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. Desired Qualifications: Experience within the CSU or comparable large public university system. Experience with large-scale budget development, financial planning, and resource advocacy. Experience in facilities planning and capital project management for health and wellness operations. Experience working with collective bargaining agreements, shared governance structures, and represented employee work environments. Demonstrated experience in workforce development, leadership pipeline cultivation, and staff capacity-building strategies. Knowledge of population health management, public health emergency preparedness, and student success analytics. Familiarity with AAAHC or related accreditation standards.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $10,106 - $32,441/monthly.
